How do I know if it’s right for me?

Joining our Trainee Scheme is easy! All we require is that you are over 16 years of age and have achieved the required entry requirements for the appropriate University, as detailed at the bottom of this advert.

We offer a fully funded scheme where on completion you will gain a degree. Training will include time in relevant departments offering a broader understanding of how the business operates getting involved in interesting and challenging work. At the same time, you’ll be earning a competitive salary.

What to expect:

As a Trainee, you will undertake a degree in Quantity Surveying and develop into the role of a Quantity Surveyor who is responsible for negotiating and concluding a contract for the supply of work, goods, materials and services. During the development period the Trainee Quantity Surveyor will assist the Quantity Surveyor and carry out the following duties:

  • Assist with the procurement of Sub-Contractors
  • Assist with the preparation of Sub-Contract Orders
  • Contribute to the preparation of Monthly Valuations
  • Assist with Payment of Sub-Contractors and Cash Flow Forecasting
  • Support the Quantity Surveyor with the preparation of Costs and Budgets
  • Review and undertake site measurements
  • Assist with the preparation of internal & external monthly reports
  • Liaise with all members of the Site team, e.g. Project Manager, Site Manager, Design Manager
  • Liaise with other departments within the business e.g. Estimating & Finance

Qualifications

You will be enrolled onto an Apprenticeship Scheme with a local university this will be to study, BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (Degree Apprenticeship).

  • Fully embrace the principles of the Considerate Constructors’ Scheme and provide active input to maximise the company’s performance in the scheme
  • Commitment to studying towards professional qualification
  • Strong analytical, written, communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to develop your existing skills and acquire new ones
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with a dedicated approach to meeting deadlines
  • Eligibility to work and live permanently in the UK
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence (desirable) or access to private/public transport

How will I spend an average working week?

You’ll spend one day a week attending university studying towards your interested degree. It’s not all about study and exams though. When you’re not in University, you’ll be putting into practice what you’ve learned by working with experienced colleagues on a range of high profile projects.

You will get responsibility from an early stage in your career and will play a key role in helping deliver projects on time and under budget. You will also have opportunities to work on our high-profile projects.

What are the entry requirements?

You will have achieved the following:

• Level 2 Maths Certificate - grade 4/GCSE grade C or above

• Level 2 English Certificate - grade 4/GCSE grade C or above

• Minimum of two A-Levels – no specific subjects required

or

• HNC in Construction or equivalent
